Examen — Terms of Use

Last updated: August 24, 2026

These terms apply to the Examen app ("the App"), published by Radiant Solutions. By using the App, you agree to these terms in addition to Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, which also applies to your use of the App.

What Examen is

Examen is an AI-guided reflection aid based on the Ignatian Examen, a Catholic practice of reviewing one's day. It uses Google's Gemini AI, via an API key you provide yourself, to generate a conversational guide voiced as a Catholic saint.

What Examen is not

Examen is not the Sacrament of Confession. Nothing said in the App constitutes sacramental confession, absolution, or any act of a priest. It is not performed by, reviewed by, or affiliated with any priest, diocese, or parish.

Examen is not therapy or medical treatment. It is not provided by a licensed therapist, counselor, or medical professional, and is not a substitute for professional mental health care.

Examen is not a substitute for a spiritual director. It is an AI tool, not a person, and its guidance should not be treated as authoritative spiritual direction.

Crisis situations

Examen is not equipped to handle emergencies. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, having thoughts of self-harm, or believe you or someone else is in immediate danger, do not rely on the App — call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911 immediately.

Your own API key

Examen requires you to supply your own Google Gemini API key. Your use of that key, and any usage limits, costs, or terms associated with it, are governed by your agreement with Google, not by Examen or Radiant Solutions. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of responses generated by Google's Gemini API.

AI-generated content

Responses in the App are generated by an AI model and may occasionally be inaccurate, repetitive, or not reflect authentic Catholic teaching precisely. The App is a devotional aid, not a theological authority. If you're unsure about a matter of faith or morals, consult a priest or trusted spiritual resource.

Your content

Your journal entries are stored locally on your device. You are responsible for what you choose to share in the App, including with Google's Gemini API as described in our Privacy Policy.

No warranty

The App is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose beyond what's described here.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated terms.
